De determinanten van internationale gezondheid zijn de omstandigheden waarin mensen geboren worden, opgroeien, leven, werken en ouder worden, inclusief het gezondheidssysteeem. Deze omstandigheden worden gevormd door de verdeling van geld, macht en middelen op mondiaal, nationaal en lokaal niveau die zelf worden beïnvloed door politieke keuzes. De sociale determinanten van gezondheid zijn voornamelijk verantwoordelijk voor ongelijkheden in gezondheid, onrechtvaardige en vermijdbare verschillen in de gezondheidsstatus binnen en tussen landen.
De werkgroep rond de determinanten van internationale gezondheid nam een start in 2011 met de conferentie Will our generation close the gap? Comprehensive and innovative strategies to address social determinants of health. De werkgroep organiseert uitwisselingen, workshops en seminars over specifieke sociale determinanten.

- Trade agreements and health of workers, Liesbeth Vangeel, FOS: Article written as chapter of the 2017 Global Health Watch report by the North-South working group of the Action Platform Health and Solidarity and the working group on Social Determinants of Health of Be-cause health.
