Roland De Bruyne obtained a Master’s degree in medical-social sciences from Ghent University. He was teacher at the Institution for Nurses Sint-Vincentius in Ghent and is currently retired.

Since 1987, he has accompanied nurses during study visits / internships in Africa. He has been a guest lecturer at the Kigali Health Institute in Rwanda and is involved as a volunteer for Fracarita Belgium & Medics Without Vacation, training nurses in the Great Lakes Region since 2009.
