Dr. Alvarez is a surgeon and an expert in Bioethics. He holds a Master and a PhD in History. He is an associate professor at the Department of Public Health, School of Medicine, Universidad Nacional de Colombia. He is also the director of the research group in Socio-historical Studies of Health and Social Protection.
