Karel Gyselinck

Karel Gyselinck has been a Public Health Advisor at Enabel (the Belgian Development Agency) since 2006. He started as a general practitioner in Belgium for 2 years, then as a hospital doctor and district medical director in Zambia for 5 years. From 1996 to 2006, he was a Medical Director for the NGO Memisa in Brussels.
In 2001, Karel obtained his Master in Public Health from ITM Antwerp. In addition, he was chair of the Belgian platform Be-cause health from 2009 to 2017. Currently, he is the chairman of FESTMIH (Federation of European Societies of Tropical Medicine and International Health) and a member (as expert in Health Systems) of the Global Fund ‘Technical Review Panel’. Finally, for the past ten years he has been teaching at ULB (summer seminar, Master in Public Health), at the ITM (Master in Public Health) and at Ghent University and the University of Antwerp (to medical students).
