Eskedar Mekonnen
Student short course, Institute of Tropical Medicine, Antwerp, Belgium
Eskedar Mekonnen is a black student who encountered racism and discrimination while researching health inequalities. She grew up and completed her college studies in Ethiopia. However, she went abroad (Belgium) for her postgraduate studies, where she learned about concepts and forms of racism and discrimination while interacting with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds. She then became involved in a project to give advise about the use and deployment of data and research on racialised minorities.
