Charles Ddungu

Ddungu is a public health researcher and practitioner at the Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM) in Antwerp. His research interests are participatory and community-based research on health promotion interventions for racialised groups and decolonisation of international health education and research institutions.
As a practitioner, Ddungu works on sexual promotion and prevention of sexually transmitted infection, focusing on HIV among African communities in the Flanders. He develops, implements and evaluates psycho-social group interventions for people living with chronic conditions, with focus on HIV. He researches health disparities in communities with a migration background in Belgium in view of policy recommendations on reducing health inequalities among vulnerabilised communities. Ddungu is also a member of the ITM Ethical Committee.
