What does climate change do to the sexual and reproductive health and rights of girls and women?

How do rising temperatures affect the physical and mental health of pregnant women, young mothers and their newborns? How do teenage girls experience the effects of climate change in their daily lives? And what role can sexual and reproductive health and rights play in the response to the effects of climate change?
On the occassion of World Women’s Day the ‘Parliamentarians for the 2030 Agenda’ in collaboration with ARGO/CCGD organize on a lunch-time seminar on the impact of climate change on the health and rights of girls and women.
By means of recent research findings and testimonies from the field in West- and East-Africa and Haiti we will map out the challenges and discuss what these mean for policies.
This seminar is set one week ahead of the start of the 66th UN-Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), which negotiates this year on “Achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls in the context of climate change, environmental and disaster risk reduction policies and programmes”.
